Grand Master Key System

A Key-Alike system is designed to open several locks with one key. A Master Key system is designed to open a set of several series of key-alike system. A Grand Master Key system is designed on top of master key system. 
For a better understanding, Key-Alike system normal use for residential, while Master Key System is for medium size of cooperate and Grand Master Key system is for more complex organisations with higher security level.

Key-Alike system 是专门针对普遍用户而设计的，只需一把钥匙就可以打开数量不等但在同一个组别里的锁具。Master Key system 是另一个层次，是专门针对中小型企业而设计，只需一把钥匙就可以打开数量不等而且不同组别的锁具。Grand Master Key system 是这个系统里最高的位置，只需一把钥匙就可以打开所有在系统里的锁具，是专门位大集团或高强度防盗系统而设计的。

These key system have keys which are specific to own lockset and cannot open any of the others in the same lockset system. Locks which have Master Keys have a second set of the mechanism used to open them which is identical to all of the others in the set of locks. For example, A Key (worker) can only open A room while B key (worker) can only open B room but Master Key (Manager) can open room A and room B. A far more secure (and more expensive) system has two or more cylinders in each lock depends how many layers of security and complexity of the lock system could be.

 在一个完整的系统里，员工(key)只能打开自己的房间而没有打开其他同事的房间的权限。经理(master key)则拥有进入自己所管理的部门所有的房间的权限。最后，总经理／老板则拥有进入所有房间的权限。

 Larger organisations, with more complex “grandmaster key” systems, may have several Master Key Systems where the top level Grand Master Key works in all of the locks in the system.

 A practical attack exists to create a working master key for an entire system given only access to a single master-keyed lock and its associated key. This is described in Cryptology and Physical Security: Rights Amplification in Master-Keyed Mechanical Locks
